Scott Bohlen mentioned an article in Tuesday's sales meeting regarding problems with drywall manufactured in China.
Specifically, it appears the drywall in question was manufactured between 2004 and 2008 and could effect 100,000 across the United States. Gypsum in some Chinese drywall contains strontium sulfide which releases sulfurous gases. Although testing is still underway, scientists believe it could be cause of homeowner complaints ranging from nosebleeds and respiratory ailments to black coatings tarnishing fixtures and corroding air-conditioner coils.
"Homeowners worried about their own wall material can check for a "Made In" stamp or a manufacturer's name on exposed board backs. If no name appears, the Florida attorney general's office recommends an inspection by the builder or a licensed contractor."
