The Greater Brighton Area Chamber is pleased to announce two important Summits that are taking place in late October and early November.
October 30, 2009
ConnecTech Livingston is presenting the Livingston Energy Summit & EXPO. This exciting event will take place at the Johnson Center at Cleary University in Howell. Multiple speakers will be discussing start-of-the-art technologies, the latest development in green energy and products, nuclear energy, solar energy, environmental interests, energy savings, education, jobs and skill trade labor. The speaker line-up is phenomenal. Justin Sutton of the Interstate Traveler, one of the keynote speakers, will be speaking on the HyRail transportation system, which is solar powered and "green." The HyRail uses the endless power of the sun to operate the system, and it also uses sunlight to convert non-potable water into hydrogen and oxygen - storing those two elements separately and recombining them to create electrical energy and pure water. The HyRail will create tens of thousands of new permanent jobs, something Michigan desperately needs. It is also privately funded, which means no taxpayer dollars! Passengers may choose to ride as passengers in a commuter vehicle or may also sit in their own automobiles. The list of its benefits is lengthy. But rather than simply reading about them, why don't you attend to hear about them first hand?In addition to Justin Sutton, Director of DTE's Nuclear Development program, David Harwood, will be speaking on the latest developments in nuclear energy. State Representative Bill Rogers will be addressing the crowd on state initiatives, as well as representatives from Leviton, the State of Michigan and IBEW. This is going to be an energized event which will be educational, comprehensive and an endless source of informationVendor booths are also available for those businesses involved in energy.
This ConnecTech-Livingston event is being sponsored by Michigan Works!, Cleary University, IBEW Local 58 & Natl. Electrical Contractors Assoc. of SE MI, 4word systems Internet Solutions. Hartland Electric, Livingston County Small Business Technology and Development Center and the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce will be partnering with Livingston Higher Education Network to present: "Michigan's Defining Moment - A Community Conversation"
featuring Philip H. Power, Founder of the Center for Michigan. Business owners, employees, educators, students and the general public should attend this event. Summit attendees will be joining 10,000 citizens across Michigan in a singular conversation which will help to lay the foundation for a solid economic future. As you know, we need to keep our children, friends, neighbors, co-workers and brightest young people here in Michigan. We need to set aside partisanship and bring people together to speak on important issues that shape Michigan's future. You are needed at this Summit to help shape that common ground agenda. With the help of LESA, the Chamber already has a large list of students attending from the various districts in Livingston County, as well as Lansing Community College. Cleary University has generously stepped up to pay for the first 100 students and teachers. Interactive polling devices will be used in the conversation, which will give immediate responses to questions asked.
This event is being sponsored by The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus, Livingston County Michigan Works!, LHEN and The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce. The Summit will also be taking place at Cleary University's Johnson Center which is located in Howell.
On the local level, both of these summits are moving Livingston County forward. It is this Chamber's goal to be on the cutting edge of initiatives that pertain to the enhancement of business and the local and state economy.
Please contact the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce for registration forms for attendance and vendor requests at 810-227-5086.
