Kathi Presutti's advice

Kathi Presutti visited Preview Properties.com on Thursday to share some tips on taking better MLS photos. She suggested we "consider our photos our first showings." Here are a few more tips she provided:
  • Make sure you put captions on vacant room photos (EX: "living room", "2nd bedroom").
  • Remove family photos and other clutter.
  • No seasonal decor.
  • Switch out several small art pieces with one large piece.
  • Turn off the TV.
  • Take magnets, etc. off the refrigerator.
  • Remove dishes from the sink and any rags, towels on the counters.
  • Put the toilet seat down.
  • Remove toothbrushes from the bathroom countertops.
  • Make sure the blinds are level with each other if multiple windows show in photo.
  • Watch the weather report. Sometimes sunny days aren't the best for interior photos.
  • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. generally a good time to take photos, but so is dawn and dusk ("golden hour")
  • Take photos from corners of rooms so viewer can see two walls in photo.
  • Try taking photos from low angles (or high angles).
  • Use a wide angle lense, not a fisheye lense.
